Using lace weight instead of the recommended sock weight. I stuck with size 4 needles though. So far so good, but we’ll see if it ends up too drapey.

Transitioning to the lace leaves portion! Still on the first skein of Maisonette.

Might finish this thing with just one skein. We’ll see how yarn chicken plays out…

Had put this on hold after finishing the last chart while I considered extending the lace section. I’ve got more than enough yarn to do so, and since I used laceweight the shawl will likely turn out smaller than the pattern sample anyway. After consulting with pjkaylor, am going put in a life line and continue the lace edge for a bit. We’ll see how it goes!

Placed the lifeline and beginning the lace extension.

Broke into the second skein so that I can continue extending the lace portion. I like how it looks so far.

Blocked. Quite happy with how my improvised extension of the lace edging worked out. Managed to increase the overall shawl size without creating an imbalance between the different motifs. If you want a big shawl though, best to make this in fingering weight as recommended by the pattern. Lace weight will work, but won’t get you as large a shawl.
