Honorable Mention in single color hand knit afghans at the 2018 NC State Fair

1st place in hand knit afghans at the Guilford Fair

After the center star, increases only occur after the horizontal chevron sections. Increase rows are effectively separate from the patterned rows. This makes the pattern less complicated than you might assume from looking at it.

I am trusting the instructions at their word and am not increasing before the last welting section. It weirds me out to go down a needle size without increasing, but the math isn’t crazy when you take into account that the join between the center and the edging after the last welting row acts as the increase row.

Started 12th skein just before finishing the main circle portion. Started the edging!

If you don’t like true lace (no resting rows) you’ll probably hate the edging. It looks beautiful though.
