June 2010 update: I got to visit the grandkids and took some pics of Emmy in this outfit. She wasn’t thrilled to pose - but she’s worn it a lot and my goodness - it’s already getting small! Will this dear child ever smile for the camera???????

I altered the pattern a bit - added an additional bottom edge which wasn’t necessary - but I’m still learning technique. I also didn’t like the flower eyelet from the original so I did a repeat of the Wildflower stitch from Barbara G. Walker’s books.

When I finished the dress, I had scads of yarn left over - but colors not in equal quantities. I could have made a shrug in the green alone. I was very short on the tan color. I wanted some kind of continuity with the dress. The only thing I could think of at the time was to make wider stripes - and it turned out OK. The dress is very cute - and even with the compromised jacket (pattern Fantasy Naturale) it looks pretty.

I always learn as I go. I learned always buy the yarn AFTER you figure out what you want to do with it. That was not the case with this yarn… I have to figure out a closure for the jacket - no buttonholes. I think little crocheted frogs will look cute.

It was fun and dgd Emelin will look precious in it.
