As knit, the 3n33dl3 bind off in this thick yarn is unattractive. Yanking on the seam helps. I hope wet blocking and perhaps steaming with an iron will help. Shoulda stuck with designer instructions. I think the 3 needle bind off is bulkier than grafting together two long-tail cast on edges and would look much better. Will try that with a swatch or two to rest my suspicion!

Used the figure 8 provisional cast-on for first side. Realized it would stretch and be fatally unstable so I did second side with a long tail cast on over a barber cord. The barber cord/waste yarn was unnecessary. If I make this again I’ll follow the pattern, not other projects!

Add notes about kestrel, not provisional cast on, counting

After reading on other projects I decided to
1. do a provisional cast on and 3-needle bind off. Thoughts after: nope. Too bulky. If I make another I will follow the pattern!

  1. Make back as front. Yep, would do that again.

  2. After trying on with 4 repeats, decided I would add a 5th. But when done, it feels a bit long. If I make another (in Kestrel at least) I will probably make a size 1 so not so oversized and do just 4 repeats plus bottom edge.

  3. I made a mistake in the lace pattern, and if I had counted stitches in each repeat at the end of the repeat, it would have SO MUCH EASIER to fix. I managed, but….

March 21: making good headway. Sorry about the lamp behind my head..looks like I have Frankenstein rivets on my neck ;) . I was leery of such a narrow sleeve since I don’t like things snug, but for this I think it will work. Once I wet block the linen yarn, it will also feel nicer.
