Notes

OMG what a heavenly combination. I seem to be besotted with Oxidize (have skeins in sock, fingering and bulky!). Wanted the sweater to be a bit more vibrant, and a single skein of the Ginger Twist sure was perfect, but I needed more. I emailed on a Friday afternoon in Maine, they kindly sent me photos of the stock on had and yes, the color would work. Replied yes, Saturday they had it in the mail in Edinburgh, and about 8 days later it was in my mailbox! THANK YOU!

Finished the first skein of the OnTheRound fingering (sock) yarn, and used a little of the second skein of Sweet Suri. I am about 5” below sleeve separation, so will next do the sleeves and collar, then return and see how long I want to go. At my age and plumpishness (probably a made up word but one that should exist) I am thinking emphasizing my waist is not ideal. BUT I don’t want it too long.

I made size L to accommodate my broad, square shoulders, but don’t need or want that much ease in the body. I cast on the required underarm stitches, but decreased so I will have about 7 1/2” wearing ease, which I hope will ventilate me as I think the Suri is going to be warm.

Knits up quick… there is a bumpy bit in the lace which I am hoping will block flat.

Mods: started with recommended cast on --unsure if I wanted M or L. I also wanted the lace up higher on my body (not down to full bust line). The one thing I am not wild about is the sharp increase which creates a visible change in stitch density, so I spaced each increase over 2 rows. SO…

I reduced the number of rows in the section above the lace, and spaced the total increases over 4 increase rows, each with one or two plain rows in between. In total I eliminated 4 rows, which I then added back after completing the lace. With my gauge, I added another 2-3 rows before the raglan increase so the yoke would be long enough. The pattern says the yoke depth is 8.5” for my size, and it appears that includes the collar ribbing (about an inch I think it will be), so I am hoping my changes leave the sleeve separation in a comfortable / ideal spot for me.

Knitting up very quickly.

Finished DURING the KAL at The Cashmere Goat…what a concept! The hand of this sweater is beyond heavenly! I love it so much. The suri silk from Ginger Twist is a must have must wear!
