The goal was to show off SpaceCadet’s Never Ending Gradient Mini-Skeins in a shawl. This is my first year joining their club. I tried “Now In A Minute” but I wasn’t into it. Then I tried “Inara” but I felt that garter stitch shows off the colors better. That’s where the “ADVENTurous Wrap” came in. I felt excited as I added a new mini skein and saw how each bundle flowed easily with from the previous month. At one point, I did frog this shawl completely again just to make sure I was increasing correctly. Most of the time, the mini skeins are too similar to each other to the point where I couldn’t tell where the previous skein started. I had to use stitch markers to mark when I added the new yarn. It also helped me keep track on how many rows of the repeat I did.

I started running out of yarn when adding March bundle. It was time to do less rows. At first, I was going to end with April’s bundle, but after rereading the pattern, I decided to add June’s bundle. I watched out for when the main skein was about to run out so I could subtract more rows to the repeat. I kept count of when I started doing less rows to do the same with second half of the shawl, which used July’s to November’s mini skeins.

Using the stitch markers, I kept track of the increases on one side.
March Rows: 7, 7, 6, 6, 5
April Rows: 5, 5, 5, 5, 5
June Rows: 4, 4, 3, 3, 3

For the second half of the shawl, I began with November’s bundle and added the bundles backwards, starting with the fifth skein and working down to the first skein. Following the rows I did for the first half of the shawl, I had to make sure I did the same with September’s bundle as to what I did with March’s bundle. As I worked on adding the third skein of September’s bundle, I noticed that I had enough yarn to do extra rows. I was a little confused at first until I saw that March and September were different fibers. Not only that, March’s bundle had shorter yardage. It was best to mimic the same rows as how I did the first half of the shawl.

While adding August’s bundle to the shawl, I used up all the yarn from the fourth skein. Even though both April and August bundle are the same fiber, I unexpectedly ran out of yarn. I have to do 4 rows instead of 5. I kinda expected some hiccups because there are a little extra stitches with the second shawl since I added all of November bundle compared to skipping January’s first skein in the first shawl. I will continue on with doing 4 rows for the rest of August’s mini skeins. Luckily July has more yardage. Either June or July’s bundle will help make both sides of this shawl even.
