The plan is - make 2. One for Julie, one for Jenna. Such a cute little sweater and they do like their clothes. These will be Christmas presents - so yes, starting early this year!
15-Mar-2012: As the rows (so far) are all counted out, it would be nice to have them counted as line numbers in the pattern instead of k, p, repeat row X (over & over & over again) - but I have added where my counts should be and boogie’n along!
2-Apr-2012: Sweater number one is nearly complete - it had been on a short pause to pick up the band stitches and now only awaits one sleeve for the knitting part to be complete. Sadly, I do not like it.
What I had wanted was a dainty little sweater for the girls, pretty, with clean lines and a bit of softening detail - but I do not like how this band is at the neckline and at the hem. As the band is worked as one, and in the round - it has bulges that I could likely fight with blocking, but do not wish to expend the time doing so (and they would simply return upon washing).
For clarity, while the arms on pattern seem to be done oddly (cast on, knit live stitches, cast on some more, join, do sleeve, then sew under-arm) - the pattern itself is fine - just not what I want really. It’s simply not meeting the styling that I’m looking for.
While I haven’t ripped it out, I’m not sure I will retain it.
Decision made - frogged.
