Notes

Mel is pregnant, time to get baby knitting started!

3-Nov-2013: Had a few days w/no time to work on this gorgeous little sweater, but sleeves are now done. The lower body has been on holding cord for about a week and sleeves were worked 2 at a time. I’m not getting row gauge (I’m a bit over) but all in all I think it will be ok. I’m now to the Yoke, and a bit confused at how this is going to work, so am going to hit up other completed projects notes hoping I can get a visual idea of what is happening here before I fumble through.

Notes for future remakes of this sweater: Use a slightly fuzzier yarn.. or fuller - while this is just gorgeous, the texture would be better with a ‘softer’ yarn.

Do sleeves first. Snipping the yarn to then do sleeves, then go back to the knitting of the body makes for an unneeded yarn join.

9-Nov-2013: I had a very hard time visualizing exactly what was going on when adding the sleeves and finally gave up and just followed the instructions step by step (very clear instructions) and then felt foolish for being so scared of it. For others, you are working from front, over top of sleeve (leaving underside un-seamed and open), back, other sleeve, other front. It IS hard to work for the first few rows (3rd or 4th row it was easier, by 6th row all was well). Also need to make sure your stitches at underarm are very tight so they do not loosen into gaps or holes.

Once past the arms and out of the ‘fiddly’ area.. life was good. I’d read that stitch count was off in pattern - if so, then I messed up, as my count was dead on to the 83 needed at end of arm lace.

Buttons purchased yesterday - just need to find the time (ok, really the lighting) to sew on buttons and seam up/weave in ends.. then will be washing and blocking!

Calling this one done - as it’s just buttons to sew on for totally complete, yaay!
