Notes

I was nearly done with the first slipper (in size F) when I realized it was going to be too small, especially considering my mom will probably wear handknitted socks with these. :) So I went up to size G and they fit me perfectly, and our feet are about the same size. Followed the pattern exactly, except I only did five rows of thrums on the cuff because I was worried about running out of fiber.

I can’t wrap my head around how designers create patterns like this. I love seeing the slipper take shape! It’s fun and interesting knitting, though I do have to say that the first few rows (in the round) after picking up stitches around the sole are stressful. I have to use a 24” circular, and it makes for tight knitting until you’ve done a couple of rows (and when you start decreasing I have to go down to a 16”). I made a mistake with the first slipper and got off with my decreases trying to use DPNs, and I find it easier to keep them in line with a 16” circular.

In the end, I’m glad that I had to frog that first attempt. Not only was it too small, but there were several other mistakes that I made sure not to make the second time around. :)
