First and foremost I must stress that although this blanket is my own design it was very heavily influenced by the work of the French Blogger Clothogancho. I cannot understand a word of the French text, but her photos are fabulous and I have spent hours and hours examining them all really closely! Clothogancho I have thanked her, but thanks again to her for sharing her lovely work.

So my blanket was broken down into various stages starting in the middle. I used DK yarns and size 3 and 3.5mm crochet hooks. Mostly pure wool or yarns with a good wool content I felt texture was as important as colour for this project. The main yarn was Wendy Ramsdale DK

I think the DK yarn is thicker than the yarns used by Clothogancho and to stop my blanket being a mile wide I had to curtail the rows a little. My blanket measures about 60 x 72 inches

It was slightly difficult getting the tension to match up between the various sections, but trial and error won through in the end.

Finally, the border was Betty’s Beautiful Border V2 and thanks also to Betty Byers for sharing her lovely designs.

With the photos, first I have shown some finished pictures of the blanket, and then the making process broken down in easy to follow stages in case this inspires anyone to give it a go.

I have not listed exact quantities or colours of the yarns used, but happy to supply more detail if anyone is interested

I really enjoyed making this so much that I did not want to finish and cannot wait to start the next one!
