I absolutely LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this project. The main part of the blanket is easy and fun to do. The border was just hard enough to keep it interesting. The finished product is awesome! I have to say that if I do it again I won’t use the same yarn. I used the hand wash version of Wool of the Andes. The person I made it for plans to get a lot of use out of it so washing this beast will be a challenge. I plan on doing it again, but using Cascade Superwash. It will be pricey since I’m making the throw bigger than the pattern, but worth it in the long run.

10/27/18 - I was just about finished with the body and I decided that even though I’m doing the large wrap it just didn’t seem wide enough. I’m not sure if it’s because I used a lighter weight yarn or what, but I’m tearing the whole thing out and starting over. I’m going to repeat the width 14 times instead of 10. I’m going to need a ton more yarn.

12/21/18 - I’m ready to start the edging and I sure hope I did the math right. The edging has 54 stitches and it looks like you need an additional 4 on each end. So I came out with 197 stitches (8 stitches and 3.5 repeats of the edging) and 224 on the long end (8 stitches and 4 repeats of edging) Hopefully this works out right otherwise I’ll be ripping out.

01/14/2018 - just finished my first corner. Wow what a challenge! I’m not sure if I would have gotten through it without Knitting The Stash’s blog post. https://knittingthestash.wordpress.com/2016/12/01/stornow...
I still had to rip it out and restart the corner several times, but I got through it! If you need help with this, go to the blog and in the comments, Alison has step by step instructions for the corner starting with Row 41. This is what I ended up using and was a lifesaver.

2/10/18 - the second corner was much easier than the first. I only had to start it over twice! I’m 1/2 way through through the edging on the 3rd side. It’s going much faster than the first too. I also got the knit companion ap for my iPad. It’s a lifesaver for keeping up with my place on the chart. So much better than keeping up with it on paper. Can’t figure out how I ever got along without it!

3/5/18 - WAHOOO!!!! I’m done except for sewing the last corner together. I hate sewing and I’m not sure what the mattress stitch is, but I’m sure I’ll be able to figure it out. I’m a little worried I won’t like the join. From some of the other comments a provisional cast on would work better. I can’t wait to see what it looks like after it’s blocked.

3/6/18 - I hated sewing the corner together. I tried the mattress stitch and it didn’t look right. I sewed it more like a seam. No clue if I did it right or not, but next time I make it I’ll read more and figure out the provisional cast on I’ve seen other people talk about it. It’s all blocked and I’m leaving the ceiling fans on high…. hopefully it will be dry by the morning!
