I found this pattern in Ondori The Elegance Of Crochet Lace, Designed by Kimi Honda.
It had an extra pattern to crochet the body of the butterfly and then to sew it on. This would have given thickness and dimensions to the butterfly, however I chose not to complete this part of the pattern.
The pattern in Crochet Monthly and Magic Crochet are exactly the same as the Ondori pattern excepting for the added body.
It is in Crochet Monthly No 221 and called Sphinx.
