Added a cabled edging like LucyOlecaracOle and a slit in the scarf like Bing27.

Cabled Edging

After your last WS row (without doing the pattern’s edging), CO 12 sts using backwards loop method.
Row 1: Sl1, p2, k6, p2, ssk (with one CO stitch and one stitch from the hat).
Row 2: Sl1, work sts as shown
Continue alternating these rows, C6 on row 5 and every 6th row thereafter, until all hat sts are worked. BO.

Slit

Approx. 3” into the scarf, BO the center 8 sts. On the next row, CO 8 sts using backwards loop where you bound off the 8 sts, continue working as written.
