Notes

For International Yarn Bombing Day 2011, we featured Mandy Moore and Leanne Prain’s book on our Trending table. I spruced up the table sign with a tiny yarn bomb of my own.

This was, incidentally, the first thing I’ve ever crocheted aside from a chain stitch edge for a shawl. I didn’t really get what a double crochet was, or how it would all come together in the end. All I did was follow the instructions in the video, which really says something about how good Little Birdie Secrets’ tutorial is!

I did find that more than ten stitches were needed in order to make a satisfactory center circle, though--otherwise, the circle ends up a little lopsided and so do the petals that sprout from it. About twelve was sufficient for me, an easy alteration; just skip the two first stitches and join the circle at the 3rd, so you still have 10 stitches that your petals can bloom from. Crochet is much more easy to adapt, compared to knitting!
