My mother wanted a head covering that would look good on her (she seems to dislike most regularly shaped hats) and we settled on this feather and fan lace one designed by Cathy Carron.

I enjoyed the look of the lace and the overall shape of the hood, but did not like how the edge of the work curls. Also, the book was unclear on how exactly to wear it (with the hood up, you’ll want the long triangley bit on front, tucked into your jacket), leading to confusion for several people, I’m sure.

I was a good girl and blocked this one out. It really does wonders to the work.

One thing I have to try and improve on is loosening my stitches; I knit too tightly, making the lacework a little too small.
