Notes

I find myself knitting items I’d normally never wear (shawls, berets) in order to best suit the yarn that I’ve acquired. It’s a good thing!

I was gifted one skein of Grande Glow yarn, and with only 110 yards in the skein I was veeeerrry nervous making this beret as the pattern called for 130 yards. To save some yarn and also due to my own aesthetic preference, I skipped the eyelet lace and three rows of purls near the band. I managed to complete the hat, but only barely!

Because I used smaller needles and skipped some rows, the beret ended up significantly less slouchy than other peoples’ projects. Next time I’ll aim for something slouchier.

The Grande Glow yarn is incredibly soft, and as fuzzy as it starts off, I didn’t have trouble with piling after frogging the initial rib band three times.

I gifted the hat to my sister, and she looks much better in it than I did!
