Notes

This is a great little pattern to make Christmas or Birthday gifts with!

Made 8 pencil cases (so far…)

Used Double Knit yarn for all:
3 cases - used Knitting Essentials ‘streamers’ which is a bright multi-coloured yarn.

3 cases - used Knitting Essentials ‘pastels’ which is a colour changing yarn in pastel peach, pink and lilac shades.

2 cases - used Knitting Essentials ‘pink sparkle’ (sometimes called ‘rosa’), which is a lovely dark pink with sparkle thread running through.

Working the pattern:
Very easy to follow and well-explained.

I decided not to do the colour changes as in the pattern - they look great, and the instructions for colour changes are very helpful, but I really needed to make these asap, so cheated with colour changing yarn or plain yarn slightly_smiling_face

Because I used dk yarn, I needed to add a few rows to get the length of a long pencil and an extra bit above the tie.

Began with row 1: 12 dcs and row 2: 24 dcs, as in pattern, and bottom of case is the first 2 rows (as in pattern) and it has plenty of room for a small set of pencils.

First case made:
I stuck to the pattern and used blo for stitches all the way up after first 2 rows.

Other 7 cases:
Because I was using such colourful yarn, the blo pattern was lost, so for the rest I decided to use just plain dc stitches.

Up the side:
20 rows of dc (ist one is blo to make the base of the case)
then, 1 row of hdc.
And 1 row of sl stitch to finish off.

Chain tie - made 76 chs.

Decorations:
I used beads I had available that I could get the yarn through, so somewhat limited, but I think they look okay.

I will probably make more of these nearer Christmas.
They are really quick to do (especially if you cheat with the yarn you use slightly_smiling_face )
