Notes

CAL begins on 1st February 2018 and I will begin them.
As I am using DK yarn, I will be making a small throw with this lovely pattern.
Still waiting for Gray yarn, but I think it comes later in the rows, so should be okay!

February 1st and the first part of this Cal published. It is a fantastic pattern easy to understand and lots of pictorial help.
Have cheated a little in choosing colours, as they match one of the tester projects, but I love those colours :)
On that note, I have ditched the grey and will use violet for the 5th colour.

February 3rd and first part completed, helped by the video now on YouTube which explains the fpsc stitch placement well.

February 9th and part 2 completed. This section I found easier (or could be that I am just getting used to the pattern). Either way, this is a wonderful pattern to work from. It’s very clearly explained and a joy to work with.
Jacaranda now measures 42cm diameter

February 17th and part 3 completed, with markers left for next week when we begin on the corners. Stitch count correct but a tiny bit curly at the ends. But I am assured that this will right itself later.
Jacaranda now measures 56cm (22”) diameter.
Update 19th February:
I read the pattern wrong and added 4 more hdc on row 41 - last of part 3) than the pattern specified. Easily done. The pattern asks for 4 ch1 spaces which will begin the corners in the next part, but I assumed that the chain space would come between two stitches in the same stitch, but in this case it doesn’t.
Now all corrected hence the new picture :)

26th February Part 4 Completed.
This section requires full attention and exact reading of the pattern, but there is enough information, pattern, chart, pictures and video, to see you through.

Now measures 59cm (23”) width before blocking.

Part 5 completed - 2nd March 2018
This part was a bit of a workout - not as complicated as section 4, but lots to do and including a row with BLO stitches in chains which took some time…. :)
But still a very enjoyable project which grows more beautiful each week!

Now measures 73cm (28.5 inches) unblocked.

9th March Part 6 completed.
Apart from the very start of this section (aided with a very helpful graph), this section was easier. Nevertheless, some very pretty stitches added.
Jacaranda is now 76cm (30 inches) across, unblocked.
I am now on the second skein of both Clematis and Cream yarns.

16th March - Part 7 completed.
This was another relatively easy section (although stitch placement is over more than one row in places) and even m ore pretty stitches.
This is a lovely project!
Jacaranda is now 87cms (34 inches) across, unblocked.
I will now be on the second skein of cloud blue.

23rd March - Part 8 completed.
Another relatively easy section, but it is amazing how many new stitch combinations are being used on this project and how good they look. The designer is amazing!
I’ve lost count of how many skeins I’m using as I had extra colours to begin with, but would guess that I will soon be on the second of all except the violet colour.
Jacaranda is now 98cm (38.5 inches) unblocked.

1st April - Part 9 completed.
This section took a little while longer, as there are quite a few popcorns, but it was well worth the effort.
Relatively easy as long as you follow the pattern and enjoyable to do.
Jacaranda now measures approx 104cm (41 inches) unblocked, but could be a little larger as it’s not that easy to measure out flat :)

8th April - Part 10 completed.
So the penultimate part is completed. It’s rather sad as this is such a lovely pattern to work with.
Only approximately one inch added to the width/length this week, but some very pretty stitches which were also quite easy to do.
Jacaranda now measures just over 107cms (41 inches) unblocked.

18th April 2018 Jacaranda completed, yay!
The rows in part 11 are quite easy to do, but a little time consuming, as you are crocheting up and down all the little ‘peaks’ you will make, which will add to the time taken. But it’s definitely worth it!

Jacaranda now measures 120cm (47inches) unblocked.
Tomorrow I will give it a gentle wash and then block it (doesn’t actually need blocking bit this will freshen it up - these are light colours used) . I think it will be bigger then.

This has been a great experience. This is a fantastic pattern and so well-written too!
Looking forward to the next project from Haaksteek.
