Notes

I’ve wanted to do a mosaic crochet pattern for some time, and as I soon want to start the Havana Cal designed by Tinna Thórudóttir, I decided to try out her little mosaic purses pattern.
The only thing was, I didn’t have a zip in my craft box and the shops were shut!
So I improvised a little (will make the proper pattern later when I have a zip!)

Instead of beginning with a zip, I crocheted a base for the purse: ch 25; sc all around both sides of ch; another sc row to make up for the width of the zip; and then I began the pattern as written.
But of course this meant that the bag started at the bottom, rather than the top, but no worries.

The foldover flap for the purse I had to cast off at the end of each row, so there were quite a few ends, unlike the easy original pattern where you don’t need to cast off until you have finished.

I edged the flap to with a row of sc to tidy, and then hdc, then sl st to finish. I added a 6ch button clasp.
ThenI put a button on the bag body, then decided to add a tassel which I fixed around the button.

I like it anyway, lol!

This is a nice pattern and Tina has made it so easy for us all to crochet mosaic designs.
Will definitely buy some zips to make more purses for Christmas gifts!

An addition because I’ve made another little purse - this time in turquoise (Knitting Essentials Double Knitting) and black (Marriner Double Knit).
More to come smile
