I decided to make a bag from my Flower Star Square pattern and also decided to make it nice and bright :)
So this is it:

Yarn Used:
Small amounts of Stylecraft Special DK in:
Citron, Lipstick, Jaffa and Kelly Green

Making the bag:
I used the same pattern as before with a 4.5mm hook and completed the final sc round in lipstick yarn and with a 5mm hook.
But decided to extend the square to make a slightly larger bag, so I went back to a 4.5mm hook and added 1 extra row of hdc in citron and 1 extra row of sc in lipstick.

I then made the second square the same.
I joined the 2 squares with a flat braid join all around in lipstick (the row for the top of the bag forms the place for the tie thread to be inserted).

Then, I added an extra row of hdc around the top of the bag, plus a row of sc and finished with a row of slip stitch.

Shoulder straps were as follows:
chain 160 in citron.
Row of hdc in citron both sides of chain.
Row of dc in lipstick both sides
row of sc in citron both sides.
I then folded the strap and oversewed (using citron yarn) the meeting rows of citron together, so that both edges of the strap were now citron (the other side formed by the strap being folded).
I oversewed all around the edges to neaten, then sewed each end of the strap 2/3rds down each side of the bag for decoration and extension of the strap.

Made a tie closure (chain 160 in citron, 4.5mm hook) and threaded this through the bag.

Made tassels in all four colours used and fixed them through the bottom of the flat braid join.

Lined the bag with double-sided cotton with a pocket added.

And that’s it, all done :)

Bag now measures 9 inches wide and 9.5 inches long (tassels and straps not counted), so it makes a nice small bag.
