Notes

Love, love this cabled pattern. It was a truly fun and interesting knit. I’m planning on making another one right away in cotton. This yarn, though lovely to knit with and a beautiful color, was too scratchy to wear for more than an hour or so.

NOTES:

  • On pages 4 & 5, the pattern tells you to leave 19” for the sewing up of the shoulder seams. I barely had enough yarn to do the 3 needle bind off. I didn’t even have enough to weave in the end. Try to leave 24” for the tail for sewing up. It’s better to have too much than too little.

  • I had to go down about 2 needle sizes to get the correct st gauge. Definitely do a gauge swatch (even if you don’t normally do one) because your sweater might come out to be a completely different size than what you hope it will be.

  • Also, my row gauge was off and, instead of following the pattern to the exact number of rows, I had to use the measurements instead (thank goodness for measurements!). For the lower body and 3/4 length sleeves, I had to subtract around 8-10 rows to get the correct length (while adjusting for the waist shaping and/or increases/decreases so I’d have the right st count) in order to end up with the correct length.

All in all, great pattern! Just keep careful count of where you are in the cable pattern and in the decreasing/increasing sections :)
