After seeing this beautiful blanket in the (awesome!) Mollie Makes magazine (Issue 10), I had to try crocheting this throw for myself. Everyone in my house has a hand knit blanket and I really wanted one for myself :)

This is a nice beginner pattern and, after a little help from some crochet expert friends (Meg and Hilary), I’ve been able to memorize the square pattern pretty quickly.

I’ve changed the color design because I wanted to use up the stash worsted weight yarn I had (provided mostly by Hilary!) and decided to save my money to buy the KP wool to crochet all the squares together. The color I picked is like a very light pinkish cream and was suggested by Meg. I love it.

Time to crochet a square: 8 minutes
Square size: 5”
Number of Yards to make one square: 15-17
Number of squares I plan to make: 121
Layout of squares: 11 x 11 (this way, I hope to have at least a 55” x 55” throw when it’s finished)
Color Square types: half of the squares with 3 colors and half of the squares in one solid color…alternating between them in the layout.

Yay! Can’t wait to sit, have some tea and read while cozy under my new blanket :)
