Notes

This sampler afghan is made up of multiple 1’ x 1’ squares from different members of our Prayer Shawl Ministry. There are five squares that have doubles (pictured) and one that is quadrupled (tan rows of double crochet, not pictured). I plan to seam them with a navy blue into a 6x5 square blanket with edging and make a pillow with the extra squares.

2/18/14 Started framing the smaller squares. I had to rip out some rows on three of the crochet squares that were too long. Also getting a math work out to figure out how many stitches to skip in order to get 30-35 half double, size K crochet stitches per side of each smaller square that are all done in different gauges.

2/23/14 Using 5 chain flat braiding to connect all the squares in join-as-you-go. The first panel of six is done. I’m creating 10 scallops per edge to braid join.

2/27/14 Done joining the squares. Love the flat braid join. Very stretchy, forgiving for size differences, and aesthetically pleasing. The blanket is in the wash and will be raffled at the Mardi Gras party tomorrow.

3/7/14 Raffle of the sampler was postponed until the next big event in May. Considering adding a border from Around the Corner - Crochet Borders. I’m liking borders 75, 101, and 115.

4/14/14 Border 115 has been added and completed. The blanket will receive a spot steam for the squares that are scrunchy and then will be all ready for the Wine Tasting in May :D
