Notes

I finally have a wearable garment!

Overall, the sweater fits a bit big. The tops of the front pieces (up by the neckline/shoulder) are too wide, causing the shoulder seams to slide off my shoulder and down my arm a bit. Looks a little sloppy but oh well. It’s comfy and keeps me warm!

Ended up giving this to my mom. Fits her better and looks good on her.

This yarn knits and blocks AMAZINGLY well. The wet-blocked and dried fabric is just gorgeous and SO soft. I look forward to many, many more Wollmeise projects.

*Should not have followed instructions on picking up sts.* Needed way more sts than I picked up because the edging pulls and bunches the sweater together very tightly. Thought about ripping out the edging but blocked it really hard instead. Turned out good enough. Not going back.

Edging - Decided to knit edging in stockinette with a purl row halfway though. Folded it over and sewed it down. Looks great! No button holes.

Because of gauge issues and my own sizing preferences (I don’t like fitted cardigans), I have cast on 150 sts on size 6 needles. I should have used 5’s and/or not worked the largest size.

I swatched on 6’s as recommended but did not get a post-blocking gauge of 20 sts/30 rows per 4” of stockinette. I stretched a part of it out to 20sts/4” (5 sts/in) and I do not like the look of that at all. I’m sticking with the gauge I’m getting and just winging the cast on by going with my math for the size I want (which is equivalent to the 49” size).

Using Magnolie L as the main color + Im Jahr der Ratte as the first contrasting color with a little Maus Jung as the second contrasting color.

7/29 - Sewed Sleeve #2 on.

7/24 - Done with Sleeve #2. :) Will start seaming soon.

7/20 - As of tonight, I have sewn on the first sleeve (a perfect fit, stitch-wise) and am halfway through knitting the second sleeve. It actually looks like a sweater!

7/15 - Finished first sleeve; ripped back a bit because it ended up too long. Seamed both front pieces to back piece along shoulders; now sewing sleeve in.

7/10 - Almost done with the first sleeve. (It hasn’t really taken a month to do the sleeve, I’ve just not been working much on it.) Had to change all the numbers for a proper fit. Here’s hoping there won’t be any problems when it comes time to seam the sleeve to the body!

6/19 - Finished the right front piece. Cast on for a sleeve. Blocking the back piece.

6/1 - Finished the left front piece.

5/9 - Cast off the back piece tonight. Appears to be just the right size! Did a little knitting math to figure out how many to cast on for front pieces: 77 sts.
