First, the pattern starts with a “provisional Cast On” that I’ve not done before. She Casts On with waste yarn and knit three or four rows. The author makes it sound like you’ll just be able to pull these stitches out, but I’m pretty sure I’ll have to find that first row and pick up stitches with my needle and then pick out the waste yarn. I’m more familiar with other methods that “trap” waste yarn inside the first row of a pattern (such as these: https://www.10rowsaday.com/provisional-caston).

We’ll see how this goes at the end, so stay tuned.

Second, even though the author does write in the general cowl instructions three times to remember on the first and last two stitches to knit in garter stitch pattern, it would have been nice to include that in the stitch pattern instructions.

Note: do not turn on your knitting cruise control, make sure to use the markers to remind you about the garter stitch patterned edges.
