Castle Creek Fiber Studio is an amazing store!!! Definitely deserves the Best of Florida award.
The lady who was working there was very helpful in finding the right color Green for a Golf Masters Jacket ( there are so many shades of green and I felt rather lost not knowing anything about golf).

With a little tweaking this pattern could work….of course I could have just made it up myself

Found this :
Chest Circumference and Sleeve Length
The average chest circumference of a 12-month-old baby is 47 cm or 18.5 inches. This is two inches less than the average two year old which is the smallest size in the pattern. About 10 sts less, i.e. 4 less in the back and 2 less in both LF and RF.
A sleeve length for a 12- to 18-month-old child is usually around 10.5 inches, and for a 2-year-old, it’s usually around 12 inches Ergo, I will make the sleeves 1.5 inches shorter.
I also decided that I will make mock pockets only.

Used 3-needle join to attach pleats and center back (58 sts total).

Height
The average height difference between a one year old and a two year old is about 4 inches; between two and three years it is 3 inches.
The difference in length between two and three years of age is only 1 inch.
I will start the armholes 1 inch earlier and work the armhole depth another 1 inch less.
The height seems to be the biggest difference between a one year old and a two year old!
Shoulder width
I also noticed from the pictures that the shoulders are wider than the natural width and decreased two additional times at the armhole ( left with 44 sts for one year old size). I will distribute 14 for the neck, and 15 for each shoulder.
If I knew the exact body measurements , that would make calculations easier, but like this I am going to wing it ( he is only four months old now
).

Finished the back
02-25-2025
Finished the right front after several false starts. I was/ am quite proud of how it is coming along until hubby said “ so, you are going to felt this”.
Now, THAT would have been a great idea which I will obviously not follow because you can’t felt cotton and I would have had to make it a lot bigger

It’s coming along. I will add fake pockets and set in sleeves.

Doing a three-needle join for the overlap on the sleeves and no buttonholes. I am planning to sew on the buttons through both layers.
i am in a bit of a panic as I am getting close to the end of the yarn cone. I will finish one sleeve, weigh it and weigh the remaining yarn. If I don‘t have enough I will see if the yarn shop can ship an additional cone.

Finished the right sleeve, put it on my kitchen scale and weighted the remaining yarn. I am 7 g which is approximately 14 yards short on yarn and will call the store tomorrow to ship more.

So, yes, I have run out of yarn and ordered more from the shop yesterday. I only have the sleevecap left to do.

After two weeks of wait, I got the yarn to finish the second sleeve which took me just a little over one hour ( most of that was spent figuring out where I was at).
And the pieces are now blocking before seaming them.
FINAL MEASUREMENTS
Shoulder to shoulder: 8“
Sleeve length: 10“
Shoulder to hem length: 12“
Chest: 21“
Armhole Depth: 3.5“
