Notes

I started this without much planning, jumping in with both feet. I knew the yarns I found in my stash are not all the same weight and yes, I knew that the dark gray is from two different dye lots, but I just wanted to do it and sometimes it feels good to just work on something no matter the outcome.

How can I possibly resist?
Will look through my stash tomorrow smiling_face_with_3_hearts
C1: Natural
C2: Medium Grey
C3: Light Grey
C4: Wine Red

2.3. Tinked three rows back to row 1 of the chart and restarted watching my tension more closely.
Looks better smiley
2.10. Ready to separate body and sleeves. The color work is not my usual standard, but I am telling myself that I am not trying to win a price, just making this for myself and from stash yarn which accounts for the different weights in yarn and not quite perfect tension. I have doubled some of the yarns to even it out some.
Anyway, I like it.
2.12. Got to 4” from underarm and will knit an additional 4”. This will bring the total length to 12” which is close to what I have on my Felix cardigan.
2.16. started on the body motif. Deliberately mixing up the color sequence. Wondering if I shouldn’t have made it a bit shorter.
2.19. Finished the body.
And starting on the sleeves. Using Suzanne Bryan’s method of avoiding underarm holes: How to avoid underarm holes and Anne Budd’s ( or rather Cheryl Burnette’s) method of calculating decreases in a sleeve I am working both sleeves at the same time for a long sleeve with the body pattern at the end of the sleeves at which time I will switch to knit each sleeve separately (remaining 19rows plus ribbing).

Because the body ribbing flipped up, I researched how to avoid that and came across this:
Here’s what I found a few years ago and this really helps . http://techknitting.blogspot.com/2007/03/where-ribbing-en...
And this advice:
Lately, I’ve been doing this with success:
Go down 2 needle sizes and knit 1 round plain stockinette. When starting the ribbing, slip what will become the knit stitches and purl what will become the purls. Then work your ribbing as usual.
I redid that part and am MUCH happier with it. Success.
