Notes

Just like some other knitters I finished the neckline with one round of single crochet. heart_eyes

I Learned something new: When I found my ribbing flipping up ( see picture), I asked a Facebook Group for advice. And I did get wonderful advice!!!:
EDUCATIONAL POST
This is the problem I had with the Gemini top when I switched from the plain stockinette knitting to ribbing on a smaller needle. I went to another Facebook group for advice and received excellent feed back I have to share.
My original post “This only has happened to me twice now and I wonder how to avoid it: I knitted the body on US#6 needles all knit in the round. Then I switched to US #5 and worked a ktbl, p ribbing . The ribbing tends to flip up. Should I have worked a knit row first on the smaller needle before starting on the ribbing or even worked a regular k1, P1 ribbing, because I have too much of a tension difference?
What is the best way to fix this? ( and to avoid it when I do the same on the sleeves)
Thank you so much in advance.
I know I will find answers here. sparkling_heart

And the answer from Christina :”Here’s what I found a few years ago and this really helps . http://techknitting.blogspot.com/2007/03/where-ribbing-en...

Wonderful advice. At the transition, you knit one row with the smaller needle, then you slip the knit Stich, Purl the Purl stitch for your ribbing for one row and THEN you continue on with your ribbing. It lays flat and looks great.

Sleeves working the sleeves two at a time to about 4” from underarm. I used Suzette Bryan’s method for picking up sts without underarm holes.

Body the pattern is all about the yoke. After I finished the yoke and made sure I have the desired fit, I just use my preference of width, shaping and length for the body.

Yoke : I stopped sleeve increases at 70 sts ( will add 4 underarm sts) and body sts at 84 (+4 underarm sts).
Put in a lifeline after I finished all increases and before dividing sleeves from the body, just in case I have to rethink my approach.
For a seamless look and to have more stretch I am casting on the underarm sts using Judy’s Magic cast on, keeping four life stitches on a stitch holder for when I work the sleeves.

The yarn seems to breathe and bloom when knitted on the larger size 6 needles and shows off its structure with the thick and thin sections.

Started this late in the evening after a busy day and promptly got confused about round 1 ; whether or not to repeat the k1 or only the sts within the brackets. Luckily one Facebook page ( knitting with Suzanne Bryan ) came to the rescue and I was advised by Suzanne herself (within minutes nonetheless!)to only repeat the sequence in the brackets. This morning in the new light of day, that makes perfect sense. Meanwhile I am so grateful to have on-line buddies whom I can ask. heart

A word about the pattern:. There may be another version of the pattern, other than the free download on ravelry. I looked at the projects done and saw mention of waist shaping and different sleeve length, but no mention of that in the pattern….
So…I emailed Jane Richmond and received a prompt and lovely response sending me a link to this modified version: https://www.ravelry.com/projects/JaneRichmond/gemini-2
This was super helpful in my calculations as I had her numbers as a base to plug in my numbers as per my measurements heart

The yarn is my souvenir from Liverpool when we were over there last Fall.
