9.6. I finished this today! I am very happy with it and wearing it since it is a little cool outside (blocking can wait). I measured out 10 yards of the sixth skein (marked it with a slip knot) and used less than 9 yards to finish the cardigan. The remaining 96 + Yards of Heichi are in my stash and available to buy. I am still not sure why I found myself short of the Heichi, perhaps I knitted loosely although I did knit to gauge and perhaps I was not stingy enough with the tail ends, but 9 Yards!?
Anyway I really like the cardigan and would do this pattern again. It is a fun quick knit and the yarn is soft and comfortable.

9.4. With eight rows left to knit on the second sleeve (that’s 202 stitches plus cast-off) I ran out of the Heichi. Since I don’t want to un-do and re-do anything, I will have to buy another skein tomorrow. Luckily I know there is one more at the store. I calculate that on US11 needles I use 25.12 mm per stitch which comes to 6.867 yards. I will take 10 yards out of the skein and try to sell the remaining stash of 95 yards. There may be someone who is desperate to finish something with just that yarn…

8.23. Finished one sleeve and the neck-band. Finishing the neckband makes a considerable difference to how the cardigan sits. Before it was just “hanging”; now it has more definition. Although I can’t wait to finish the second sleeve I will hold off till next week; some time needs to be spend doing other things :(

This pattern and the yarn caught my eye last summer and I am happy to finally getting around to this project. It is very fast on US 11 needles and a simple garter stitch straight forward knit. The fake seams add a nice touch. Since I am knitting exactly to gauge I am able to count rows rather than measure lengths. Around the neck line I used the bias bind off which I had just learned when I made the Liesl.
