The color is called “Medieval Blue” and reminds me of the deepest depths of ocean; it will go with at least two of my summer skirts :)

There is a fine line between a snug fit and a baggy fit. To find that in-between especially when substituting yarn is not easy. Since this is a k1 p1 rib I have some room for errors. I decided on CO of 170 sts.
-
In the row before joining the sleeves I decreased 10 sts total by doing a cdd at the beginnings and ends of the armholes and in the middle of the back.
-
At 5 1/4 inches from the armholes I started on the yoke/neckband following modifications by knittinfun.
I still ended up with a neckband which was too loose. I marked how tight I wanted the neck opening and re-did the neckband eliminating a total of 28 rows. Since I had 112 sts on my needles and with a BO of 1st per 2 rows my neckband had a total of 224 rows. I wanted 196 rows so I modified my bind-off this way:
-
I started every eight WS row with a P2tog (one stitch from the neckline and one from the band) a total of 14 times. I also used US 6 needles on the neckband.
One other change I made was that I CO 7sts for the neckband and slipped the first stitch on the RS which is the edge stitch and which is a purl stitch. I slipped it purl-wise with the yarn in the back giving it that neat look :)
I used US #8 on most of the T-shirt, US #7 for about three inches around the waist and for the last two inches to the neck opening, US #6 for the neckband. If I knitted this again, I would probably just stick with the instructions for size small and begin by casting on 160 sts.
