Using the sockmatician‘s instructions to doubleknitting.

When I was looking for yarn for the Foolproof cowl, I came across these yarns in my stash of leftovers and realized that it will pair perfectly for a double knitted cowl.

The instructional link to the cast on no longer works. It’s easy enough to do the cast on, but I really wanted to compare what I had in mind with the instructions by the designer. I texted Birgit ( in German), but she didn’t get back to me. I also asked my son who works in IT at the library and this is what he said: “The site/link is a very old site that does not have a pattern and is not supported by modern browsers/devices. I had to load it into a special program that would allow me to see older content securely. Which was empty.”

Getting started. at my first color change I needed to learn how to do the Purl stitch in the English way ( throwing) and found this helpful video by Very Pink Knits

About one third through. It took me a while to get the hang of how to purl with my right hand ( English way) and I am still struggling with my tension. But I am getting there; practice makes perfect.

Winning Yarn chicken: At exactly half way through I put the remaining Blue Sky Gray yarn on the scale and I have 28 g left, yeah!!

Here is a thought: To match the cast on and bind off, I may cast on with one strand using Judy’s magic cast on and then bind off using the Kitchener stitch.

Binding off: I bound off knitwise with two strands of the main color and decreasing by knitting the knits and Purl together to get to the same number of sts I had cast in. This way the CO edge and BO edge match nicely.
