Notes

Jan 2/2020 Loving this yarn colour combo! With the dark hue of the Zambezi, it gives a shadow effect on the light grey of the Patons. Creating a highlight/lowlight look. Pattern as always is a joy to knit.

Yoke completed last night and separated for body and sleeves. Flying off the needles!

Gauge swatches people!

Ugh. Had to frog back ENTIRE sweater last night as my gauge was way to small. I must have been knitting tighter than usual as I’m using the exact same yarn combo as my original Sunday Sweater and no bueno! Did new yarn swatches and have re-cast on using 7mm needles instead of the 5.5/6mm combo the pattern calls for.

See photo for how small the actual neck was! Of course I didn’t notice until I was 2/3 of the way done with the body and the end of the second ball of Patons.

On a better note though, the Fleece Artist Zambezi frogged like a champ! I was worried it would be goofy after but it looks great. Also, shout out to Steve (hubby) for hand winding it back onto the cake whilst I wound the Patons on a ball winder for two hours as I carefully ripped the sweater back!

Even though my gauge is more in line with the pattern now, I did a provisional cast on the second time and folded and knit together the neck band as I went (like a double brim toque) instead of sewing the neck down later. Absolutely the best choice! So stretchy now!

Body is finished and first sleeve! Ends woven in on the go too. I love to do this so they aren’t waiting for me at the end :)

Picked up the second sleeve today too. Almost there!

Finished! Looks so good!

Even though I went with the 7mm for the main body and neck ribbing and the 6.5mm for the body bottom ribbing to get gauge’ish, I still went with the 5mm for the sleeve cuffs to get them nice and snug and they came out perfectly. Used a 9” circular though instead of DPNs, so good!
