Definitely the pumpkin were the wrong size - too big and the needles could have been a size 2.25mm.

Finally decided on the size smaller but the same size needle as the first pair. When finished and blocked this was the better combination. If I make these again, I wouldn’t use this wool. Although it seemed fine for the first pair, after wearing and washing somewhat, it stretched too much.
