I’ve worked this enjoyable pattern five times so far with several yarns. I used Size 6 needles with sport weight, Size 10 needles with worsted weight, and Size 10½ needles with a heavier worsted.
The central panel is a 38-row pattern repeated until the scarf reaches the length desired.

Row 4: Rib 4 sts. (Inc 1 st in next st. Rib 4 sts) 5 times. Inc 1 st in next st. Rib 4 sts. 40 sts.
Proceed in pat as follows:
Row 1: (RS) K2. P1. Work 1st row of Panel Pat B. P1. Work 1st row of Panel Pat A. P1. Work 1st row of Panel Pat C. P1. K2.
