My progress bar

Last year at the Southern California Renaissance Pleasure Faire I had my First Time Scarf with me to wear when we got there in the morning to set up for opening (it’s usually very misty and chilly) and then at the end of the day after we’ve closed and changed out of costume (which was usually dark and chilly).

Occasionally, during open hours, I would identify a Doctor Who fan in the crowd of patrons or otherwise see an opportunity for Scarf based comedy. So I’d rush back stage, put on The Scarf, and pop back out to induce hilarity and riot. Usually, I’d go put it away once the person in question moved on.

The problem is that all articles of clothing worn by participants like myself out “on stage” need to be approved by the head of the wardrobe department. (The lovely and talented Frida.) Even though I used it as a prop (mostly), putting on my season 12 and going out during operating hours (more then once even) to “gig” without getting a thumbs up on it first was kinda naughty of me.

Particularly since there’s purple in it, and I wore it in front of the Queen. (She complemented me on it, which was nice of her since she could have had me arrested for wearing purple… Well, she did have me arrested that day, but not for the scarf and that’s another story for another time.)

So this scarf will have blue substituted for the purple and be submitted for approval by the wardrobe department to use in the coming years.

EDIT: 01/21/10: Switched from a Season 13 to a Season 12 pattern. Near as I can tell, there will be a large block of gray missing from the “slim purple/large tan” end of the scarf but otherwise be a standard Season 12. I think I can live with that.

(Scarf Project Bar from Scarf-O-Matic.)

06/17/11 - I used this scarf in my very first standup routine.
