Notes

This will be a Smith Era TARDIS.

Knitting in the round. Orange Duck marks the join.

06/22/11 - Picked up more Blue Mist Heather. (I LOVE that colorway!), started wall 1

06/26/11 - Started to work on Wall 1 using intarsia for the details.

06/28/11 - Discovered “duplicate knitting”, which is a much simpler way to do color work then intarsia. Restarting but it will be faster and look better in the run.

06/30/11 - Went to see a live recording of the Nerdist Podcast. Tom Lennon, Lt. Dangle on “Reno911!”, saw me and said, “Mam, are you knitting?” Matt turned around, recognized me and said “That better be my TARDIS!” It was!

07/01/11 - Wall 1 row 89

07/02/11 - Finished Wall 1, Started Wall 2. Heading to the store to get yarn to add in the details. I only just now realize that I don’t know what version TARDIS Matt wants. An Eccleston TARDIS would be the same as a Tennant TARDIS, except I would put the “Bad Wolf” graffiti on the back bottom right panel. The Smith version would have different windows and the St. John’s emblem on the right middle panel on the front.

Update: He wants the “Smith” version.
Update: Wall 1 blocked with steam - 6 stitches up the side of the door.

07/07/11 - Okay, I admit it… This is the 3rd time I’m restarting this project. Duplicate knitting is pretty swell but then I began to worry about the different walls matching up. So I got over my fear of knitting in the round and restarted AGAIN using Fair Isle for the details of the doors and windows. I’ll go in and do the lettering, sign and St. John’s emblem with duplicate knitting. It’s going very well. I can’t believe I waited this long to start knitting in the round.

Ended working on row 12.

07/08/11 - Ended working on row 17
It looks like I’m making slower progress now but I have to keep in mind that a - I’m working the detail into the walls and b - I’m working on all four walls. So I think I’m making either equivalent or possibly even faster progress then before since knitting in the round creates stst without having to purl.

07/10/11 - Row 23 (there are a few gaffs that I’ll need to fix with duplicate knitting).

07/12/11 - 30

07/27/11 - It’s been a while since I’ve updated. Took the project with me to San Diego Comic Con and worked at it while at a recording of The Nerdis Podcast and also while in line for Hall H to see the Doctor Who Pannel. I’m now past the second section of “boxes” on the doors and heading into the area where I will have to choose where the front of the TARDIS is so I can work in the Pull to Open sign and the St. John’s emblem.
