Soon realised that I was going to run out of yarn early on if I followed the pattern to the letter. Unravelled a chunk and used a shorter version of a pattern from stitch dictionary but also with bigger spaces to try to max out length. Still had to use cotton for straps, but I basically have a woolly vest.
