Took break from Xmas jumper to do Wk 1 of CAL and play catch up on gauge swatch. First swatch with scrap Sublime yarn from diamond jumper should make a reasonable coaster for my coffee. Done actual swatch/blanket to same row before sleep break (I hope). Hopefully finish this week’s target tomorrow if I stay awake, then back to finishing comforolled…

After round where there was an increase of 18 stitches rather than 12 had problems keeping things flat. Switched to knit pro hook and it seemed to help a bit. I thought I had a 3.75mm hook and would have used it, but either it’s gone walkies or I got mixed up. Ordered one. Gauge seems okay. Less than 12 side to side of hexagon, more than 12 corner to corner.

Did big long entry, but it got stuck in the circling icon of doom. Short version: starting over but leaving v1.0 intact until I see if I can do better.

Ho hum. If I don’t get distracted, I’ll be starting V3.0 when I get back from taking the dog out. At times with V2 I thought I was getting better at keeping the top loop tight, so that the stitches didn’t get too wide for their height, but as I neared the end of the week 1 instructions it was getting wobbly at the edge. Measuring up after 13 rounds, the radius was just under 12cm. Not good.
I found however that I far prefer the colour arrangement I decided to try to soften the colour transitions slightly, changing colour one round early, then going back to the old colour for one round before continuing according to the original directions.

So, I am now on version 3, and to be truthful, I don’t know that it’s coming out better than version 1. I do know that I’m just over halfway through week 2’s instructions and week 3 came out two days ago. Time I was crocheting instead of typing.

Made a booboo with the colours at the beginning of week 4. Used violet yarn (D) instead of pastel pink (E). Therefore, I needed to swap around the three contrast colours in this section. As next section starts with pastel pink, I didn’t want it to be last of the three. That meant I used violet, pink, blue instead of pink, blue, violet.

Forgot to add any notes on week 5. Week 6 finished by Sunday lunchtime, which is probably a record for me. Except, maybe for week 1.

Didn’t finish Week 7 until Monday teatime. Thought no more about it until I looked at photo of completed item closely to see if I could work out the colours for Week 8 ahead of time.
It turns out my outer coloured circle is pale pink, but the one in the photo definitely isn’t. It’s either violet or the darker blue. Instructions say Colour D.
According to Tips and Tricks, D should be Amstelveen. And looking at the photo with my wooden sheep that’s the violet. Oh well…

Okay, so I did 90% of Week 11 Row 2 in light blue before I ran out. I unravelled the last long side and re-did it with the 3.75mm hook… and I still ran out. So, then I unravelled and did it again in pink. Everything went fine until I ran out of duck egg blue, so I’ve put it to one side (even if the side is on my bed) until I decide whether to leave it as is or buy more Colour Crafter when I’m next doing an online shop.
