The colors are like a like a love letter to 1978. The project, is a full fledged ugh and is being tossed to the frog pond.

I gave the pattern 3 stars because it’s extremely well written, but I don’t like the end shape of the shawl, so this project would have been frogged for that alone.

The colors ran, as shown in both the large picture that shows the strange end shape of the shawl, and closeup picture, which shows how orange the natural bugga became. I prewashed my mini skeins in synthropol with a shout dye catcher, so I don’t think this should have happened.

I’m contacting the dye house, and assuming that they don’t want the project to try to figure out what the heck happened, I’ll frog it and try narrow stripes to hide the staining.

According to the dyehouse, my problems were caused by synthrapol. Synthropol actually pulls dye out of fibers and should not be used unless you’re actually trying to get rid of stains, which makes sense. It’s an industrial strength product and basically the devil if you’re not exacting in your use of it.

Note: technically this project wasn’t frogged. It was tearfully tossed in the garbage. I’m saddened even more because CY is closing its doors and I’ll never be able to try something else with these colors.
