Notes

/02/2009: I’ve got several reasons for knitting these socks. First one is that I’ve never done a toe-up sock before. I also wanted someting with cables for this yarn, because I think it will suit it. It’s very dark, ranging from dark grey to almost black. Third reason is that it’s got a Celtic theme, and I love anything Celtic, especially the knots. And final reason; this sock has only been made by 5 other people so far. I like that, makes it more exclusive.

/02/2009: I’ve decided to frog the lattice part. I was knitting alle the stitches through the back loop, like it says in the pattern (or maybe I misunderstood?). But I don’t like that on the sole of the sock. I’m also adding an extra rib in the purled stitches at the side of the lattice work. I’m very satisfied with the changes I’ve made.

/02/2009: I’ve reached the point where I have to start knitting the heel. But I don’t understand anything of the instructions. I’ve tried to knit it in a swatch, but it just doesn’t work. I’m doing something wrong, but I’ve no idea what that is. So I’ve decided for another version of the short-row heel that I found here, and that worked perfectly. I’d never used this version before, but it seemed very easy (and it was), that’s why I decided to try it.

/02/2009: Finished first sock. Used the decreased bind off to cast off. I like this sock very much. It fits perfectly. The yarn makes a very subtle striping, that spirals around the foot. The second picture gives the best idea of the colour, the ones below are too blue.

/02/2009: Somehow I can’t get the second short-row heel right. I get a whole row of little holes. So I’ve decided to use yet another version of the short-row heel for the second sock, found here. This is one I’ve used before and that I know works.

/09/2009: Finished! I’ll post a picture of the finished socks tomorrow; it’s too dark now to take a photo.
