Notes

I love leaf patterns, so when I saw the Autumn Leaves Shawl on Annie’s, I instantly decided to make it. This project is part of my goal to try some Berroco yarns that I have not worked with before.

I modified the pattern, since I didn’t want a full shawl, but rather something that I can conveniently wrap around my neck, almost like a scarf. Here are the modifications in a nutshell:

  • Follow the pattern for 49 rows.
  • Switch to increase every other row for 24 rows.
  • Crochet straight for 23 rows.
  • Decrease every other row for for 24 rows.
  • Finish according to the pattern with decreasing every row. (Disclaimer: You may need to adjust the decreases towards the last leaf, so that the pattern works out.)

The Berroco Folio Color yarn is discontinued, but I had gotten some earlier this year from Little Knits, which now perfectly fit the bill. The yarn is so smooth, it was a pleasure to work with. It creates a nice drape, too. Definitely a keeper. And, the shawlette would look great in some of the solid Berroco Folio colors as well.
