This is an in-between Gnome of the Month, since the Bunny Gnome (April) had to come so early, and it is not time for May yet.
Let the Graduate Gnome with his diploma and his tassel add a little cheer to a graduate celebration!

- (1) 2” beige hexagon for the nose
- (2) 2” gray hexagons for the feet
- (1) 2” white hexagon for the diploma
Assembly
- To form the body, weave a piece of yarn all around the body hexagon and pull it close a little bit. Stuff. Pull tight the opening to about 1.5” and secure.
- To form the head, weave a yarn end all around the head hexagon and pull it in. Stuff. Pull tight the opening to about 1.5” and secure.
- Sew head to body.
- To form the nose, weave a yarn end all around the nose hexagon and pull it. Stuff. Pull tight the opening to about 0.5” and secure.
- Sew nose onto the head.
- For the beard, sew one side of the beard hexagon right under the nose.
- For the hat, fold the hat hexagon in half as shown. Pull in the top fold to form a tip, then sew along the length of one hexagon side to form the hat. Very lightly stuff the hat, then position it onto the gnome’s head and body as pictured and secure with a few stitches.
- For each foot, weave a yarn end all around a foot hexagon and pull it in. Stuff. Pull tight to close the opening. Sew feet to body.
To make the diploma:
- Roll the white 2” hexagon as shown in the picture.
- Tie a red ribbon around the center and make a knot.
- (Optional) add the charm and make another knot to hold it in place.
- Tie a bow, clip ends.
- Sew the diploma with a piece of black wool into place as shown.
To make the tassel:
- Wrap the embroidery floss about 10 times around three fingers as shown.
- With a double end of yarn, make a slip stitch around the ring that you just wrapped.
- Chain 8, leaving an end for sewing, clip the yarn and pull the end through the last chain.
- Tie a string of yarn around all threads to make the tassell. Secure the thread.
- Clip the bottom loops of the tassel open and trim.
- Sew the tassel to the center of the gnome’s hat.
