Notes

I was curious what the McKenna mitts would look like when made in Brielle. I really like the fuzzy, cotton, soft, and shiny(!) character of that yarn.

Experiment successful. The mitts look like “Sunday’s Best”.

Minor adjustments to the pattern:
I only used one needle size and adjusted after the ribbing with more sts. Note that I knit loosely, so you may need to go up a needle size or two from what I used.

  • Cast on the same. -32 sts
  • One more row ribbing (5 instead of 4), and in the last row inc 4 sts (M1 after each 8 sts). - 36 sts (aka each side of front/back has one more st on the sides, worked in p) Adjust the beginning and end of each side by 1 sts, for example:
  • Establish Cable Pat: … start with P3 (instead of P2)
  • Length measurements are the same, just work a few more rows if needed.
  • No changes to the thumb
  • First row of final ribbing, work each 7th and 8th st together - 30 sts.
  • Work a total of 5 rounds (instead of 4) before binding off.
