Notes

I have a lot of Berroco yarns stashed from when Patternworks went out of business years ago. This includes a good amount of Vintage, but I haven’t used much of it yet. This MKAL will be perfect to change that.

I went stash diving and found enough colors and sufficient quantities … I hope that this will work out (the mock-up sample chart that Berroco provided was a huge help in choosing colors):

C1 51168 Petals
C2 5175 Fennel
C3 5134 Sour Cherry
C4 5195 Macaron
C5 5107 Cracked Pepper

Great way to start thinking about 2025!

Happy 2025!

Thinking about what to do to bridge the time until the first patterns are released, two topics came to mind:

  • swatching Vintage
  • having an easy legend at hand throughout to reference which color is which

When I recently bought the Tim Bear pattern I also saw a cute kitten pattern by the same designer that hopped into my shopping cart, so I decided to give it a try and knit-in a “sweater” to represent the color legend for my MKAL blanket.

Well … it looks more like a rat than a kitten, but otherwise mission accomplished.

I was curious to see how my colors work out for the new August block, and I’m loving it!

I’m using a second ball for color C3 to better accommodate the color changes. C5 is only used for three rows, so C3 would be on the wrong end for the next row.
