Notes

The Capri yarn is the perfect blend of cotton and some ‘stretchy’ component to make headbands. It is available not just in classy white, but a good variety of fun colors to play with (and match your sports outfit).

Weave the yarn with little tension to keep the stretch effect for when you will wear it.

Besides the description of the sample headband this project includes tips for adjusting the length to accommodate larger/smaller heads, and different assembly methods … pick what works best for you!

The headband as shown uses a total of 6 hexagons (three in each of the two colors), and the hexagons are all folded in the bias/stretchy method (see photos for explanation).

Here are a few options to adjust the length of your headband:

(1) Using stretchy bias or not. Stretchy bias accommodates a little larger head, regular fabric direction accommodates a little smaller heads (children).

(2) You can fold the hexagons in half fist, then connect them. Or you can lay them out and connect them first (see photos), then sew the sides.

(3) Add two hexagons for a large head. If that’s too big, you can add one hexagon and slide one hexagon inside the other if you’re just ‘in between’ sizes.
