Notes

Making a keepsake minutia: Precious 8 yards of my daughter’s first handspun yarn turned into a sweater ornament that we can now display and enjoy as a Christmas tree ornament.

I bought some little hangers for the purpose, but you can certainly make your own, for example of large paper clips.

How to make the sweater:

  • Weave four 2” hexagons
  • Lay them out as pictured, and sew together the yoke together (the sides that touch in the picture) like for a raglan pullover.
  • If you don’t sew all the way up the center (just stop one stitch before the end of each row), you’ll have an opening for the top.
  • Fold the sweater along the “sleeves”, then close the sides and along the sleeves to form the sweater.
  • On the sleeves, fold up the tip and secure it with a stitch or mini button for a decorative detail.
  • Insert the hanger and … enjoy!
