“Thing B” is a hexagon patchwork blanket, made of “B”erroco Ultra Alpaca stash supplies on the original TURTLE hexagon pin loom.

I will weave up a variety of Ultra Alpaca that I found in my stash, and then randomly put it together into a hexagon blanket. I will stop on March 15th or when I run out of yarn … whichever one comes first!

The plan …

My initial plan was “to weave throughout February, assemble in March, to be done by the end of the MAL.”

However …

  • I still have that partial skein in natural white MIA, and I really want to add that.
  • I enjoy weaving the Ultra Alpaca a lot.
  • Some unforeseen events, like this nasty one week record breaking series of winter storms, contributed to the fact that I have not yet woven the colors that I wanted, and the end of February is here.

Since this blanket is modular, I can decide at any time to be done with it, but at the moment I want to keep on weaving!

This is it!

I went stash diving today and found 6 more skeins of onesies and twosies of Ultra Alpaca that I shall add to my blanket. And that’s it!

After that, the big assembly will begin, and we’ll see what we get.

Excited.

End of 2021

It’s the end of 2021, and I still have 1 1/2 skeins to weave. Therefore, the project will turn into a “regular” project that will not be cut off at the end of the year.

I’m looking forward in finishing the weaving and then turn the 200+ hexagons into a “cape blanket”, a round blanket with a radius slit, so that it can be worn like a cape.

Finished as Future Garment Design

I used the hexies for a garment … which I cannot post yet.

BUT … at least in status it is “finished”!
