EOC1 (end of cake 1, not counting the stripe). I’m enjoying this a lot. A very relaxing knit.

Two things I noticed about the pattern (pictures later):

• Martha always gets me with the beautiful edgings. This one is an interesting slip stitch combo that makes a nice, puffy, stretchy edging. Just perfect!
• The cable is worth an analytic study: First, the cable strands are ribbed, but perfectly “melting” into each other when crossed. Secondly, the double cable actually shares a few stitches, so the two cables “connect” over the long run. It all looks like ocean waves … just beautiful.

I started the stripe at the 12th row of the first cable pattern repeat, for 16 rows.

I just decided to post a progress picture.

14 repeats complete, almost time to start the second stripe!

Second Stripe Info

If you do the recommended 16 repeat of the cable pattern, start the second stripe after 14 repeats and 4 rows. This will make it match with the beginning stripe.

I usually think that ponchos just get in your way. Not with this one, though. It is perfect! Not in the way, not too warm, nice cover … just perfect.

I highly recommend this pattern.
