I used the join-as-you-go technique I learnt from HeidiBears patterns to make this hot water bottle cover.

I modified the original African Flower Hexagon Crochet Tutorial by inserting a new R4 of 7 sc in each dc of previous round followed by one chain and then for R5 (equivalent to R4 of original pattern) I used hdc instead of sc. I also added an additional row of dc at the end. Using a 2.5mm hook with DK worked out to be the perfect size to fit around a standard hot water bottle.

The top is closed with a simple press stud sewn on the inside.
