Support Spindles based on the Spindle Shell. I have seen these called French Spindles & they are usually weighted at the center. I weight them at .6 or the Golden Mean & at .8…So they are compromise Russian/French but are much heavier…No severe points on any of my turned things!

Lots of French Spindles look to me like they were Distaffs, not for spinning, but for storing roving.
